People in Czech Republic
A little more than 10 million people live in the Czech Republic. Most of these people who live in the Czech Republic are Czechs, namely 90 percent, i.e. 90 out of 100 people. 3.7 percent belong to the ethnic group of the Moravians. Slovaks (with Czech citizenship) are represented with 1.9 percent. 0.1 percent said they were Silesian. The proportion of Roma is estimated at 3 percent.
Among the foreigners living in the Czech Republic, the Ukrainians and Slovaks are the largest, followed by Vietnamese, Russians, Germans and Poles.
74 out of 100 Czechs live in a city. The biggest cities are Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Pilsen. The birth rate averages 1.5 children per woman. Most Czechs live in their own house or apartment, around 60 percent.

Czech is spoken in the Czech Republic. It is spoken by 95 percent of the population. 1.6 percent speak Slovak.
Czech is one of the Slavic languages. Czech is written using Latin letters (which we also use to write in German). Some letters can have an accent: á, é, í, ó, ú and ý. Then there is the hatschek, a tick or a roof that is open at the top, at č (ch), ď (dje), ě (je), ň (nj), ř (rsch), š (sch), ť (tje) and ž (sch). There is also the ů (uh). The Czech alphabet has a total of 31 letters.
Religions in Czech Republic
Most Czechs did not indicate a religious affiliation in the surveys. 10.4 percent belong to the Roman Catholic Church and 1.1 percent to the Protestant Church. 3.2 percent are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Buddhists, Jews or Muslims.
All the rest, around 75 percent of the population, do not profess any church. It has to do with the history of the country. Because from 1948 to 1989 what was then Czechoslovakia was under communist rule. They thought nothing of religion and belief. Communist principles and Christian faith were seen as incompatible. While in some countries such as Poland the belief was still held, many Czechs became religious. Today the Czech Republic is considered to be one of the least religious countries in Europe. Nevertheless, they like to celebrate Christmas and Easter!

Bordering Countries of Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is a Central European country that is bordered by four other countries. To the north lies Poland, to the east Slovakia, to the south Austria, and to the west Germany. All of these countries have a rich history and culture that they share with the Czech Republic.
Poland and Slovakia are both Slavic countries with similar cultures and histories, while Austria and Germany have had a much closer relationship with each other over the years. Finally, Germany lies to the west of Czech Republic, forming a strong bond between them due to its role as one of Europe’s most powerful nations for centuries. The two countries share many cultural similarities due to their shared Germanic heritage but also have established strong economic ties over time due to their close proximity on the continent.
