Kodak announced today that they have already sold its patent portfolio by the number of 525 million dollars two companies specialized in the management of patents, Intellectual Ventures, and RPX Corporation, on behalf of 12 companies.
The 12 companies that have managed to 1,100 Kodak patents are Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, RIM, Samsung, Adobe, HTC, Fujifilm, Huawei and Shutterfly. Eventually all of these companies have reached an agreement to jointly acquire patents.
As we see, the most important companies in the sector have access to Kodak patents, which shall not be used to sue each other. Many of these patents are already used by these companies for the viewing and digitising of images.
For the part of Kodak expected to make the company more profitable, and out of the red numbers to now focus on the business of commercial printing after leaving the business of cameras and digital photo frames.
